VERY IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ON SEMI AUTOMATIC BATTERY CAGES

Some farmers most especially beginners thinks that since it is called SEMI AUTOMATIC or AUTOMATIC BATTERY CAGES-This are cages commonly used for laying birds,this cages are arranged in compartment called cells,which can accommodate 3-5birds majorly or more,
They think It is completely automatic,what we mean majorly here is ( water) - that is the birds can get water easily by pecking the nipple drinker and immediately after removing it stops,this nipple drinkers fail sometimes either not releasing water or waisting water (farmers needs to check always to be sure the birds are getting required amount of water expected from this nipple drinkers.

tanks needs to be cleaned to avoid sand accumulation in the nipple pipes please remember the drilled holes in the 3/4 pipes are tiny about 8mm which can get blocked

Always release water in the pipes after cleaning

We all know that the more the water birds gets the better their production

Why vaccines fails using nipple drinkers,most common observation ,faulty nipple drinkers ,leaking pipes,overcrowding,Use of big tanks(e.g geepee) directly to nipple pipes-what I mean here is for example you want to give 500birds vaccine and you pour the vaccine(NDV) into a 2000 litre tank,remember this tank has only small man hole,how do you mix,some of the vaccine will settle down

nowadays we have quacks joining the cage construction,selling and installation business E.g I was surprised recently when I saw a road side welder constructing semi automatic battery cage,what came to my mind was, does this guy thinks that battery cage is related to a dog cage he thinks he can just build anyhow.

Overcrowding-------60% of cage manufacturers dimensions does not really match the claimed amount of birds per cell and unit in reality,most especially when birds weight changes .Farmers please be smart here lets reason technically If you have space that will contain 3birds comfortably and 4 birds by manufacturer design,
This is one of the major problems battery cage users
are facing unknownly ,overcrowding will lead to reduced feed intake,reduced feed utilization,competition,low production and finally mortality

Cage installation-not every installer understands the rudiments of installation,laws backing installation,because they are not learned enough,they install anyhow ,that's why you see some cages where birds excrete on one another,this is common in 3tier cages,some imported cages are meant to be installed like that no solution,except you want to change their stands(frame),this cage are so portable you will fall in love with them not knowing the danger involved,please note and becareful when buying battery cages,please don't patronize quacks

Underpricing-Some farmers thinks they are so smart,they look for the cheapest cage of same capacity from different sellers,they go for the cheapest offer ,forgetting that no seller will sell to loose ,they sell low quality cages to them,before a year the cage(s)starts deforming.

Fairly used cage-Some farmers wants to save cost by going for fairly used cages forgetting the facts that this cages were sold for a reason best known to the seller,no matter how fairly used is the cage is going to have 1 or 2 problems, most fairly used cages comes with ----Diseases,box mesh deformity,stand deformity,nipple drinkers not functioning properly etc.please if you are left with no options,disinfect majorly ,check for other faults and fix.
