May 25, In Newcastle, England, Mary Flora Bell, one day before her 11th birthday, strangled Martin Brown (4). She and unrelated friend Norma Bell (13) were later tried for the murders of 2 boys Martin Brown (4) and Brian Howe (3), committed 9 weeks apart.

May 25, In Dagestan, Russia, a female suicide bomber, identified as a widow of 2 killed Islamists, blew herself up injuring at least 17, including 2 children and 5 police officers in the central square of Makhachkala. One woman died the next day from her wounds.
