United airlines would cease operations from nigeria as of june 30th 2016. The last flight from houston to lagos ( UA142) will operate on june 29th 2016 and lagos to houston (UA143) on june 30th.

United will be offering the following to all affected passengers

Wholly Unused ticketed customers with depature after june 30th 2016 would get a full refund with all applicable fees waived. All refunds to be processed through BSPLink

Customers who commence travel before june 30 will re-protect customers to alternative carriers for their inbound trip

Huge blow to Nigerians.....

Too bad
Arik and Delta are now the only airlines offering direct flights from Nigeria to the US. I expect to see an increase in Arik's passenger numbers.

According to a tweet, the demand less passengers are using them for that route hence their decision to pull out but why didn't they find out why and try to reverse the trend?
Best of luck to them.

Delta is more or less gone from 9ja too as they only sale tickets if you are paying in USD. I foresee them closing shop soon.

Too bad. Some foools online are chanting " Sai baba, things are getting better yada yada" while the reality is that businesses ( local and international) are folding up. Very very tough days ahead.
