Smartphone and not- so - smart phone users have a bunch of things that happen to their devices that they dread but the most common, most dreaded one of them is WATER ! When your phone falls into water , be it a pool , puddle or worse still the toilet , you suffer the mildest form of heart attack ( esp . if you bought the phone with your 4 months savings) . You proceed to drying it out with a towel, pulling out the battery and leaving it under the fan / AC/ sun all the while praying to your ancestors and confessing to crimes you know nothing of just to get the phone working. When that doesn ’ t work , you try a hair drier which would now compound your demise by damaging the circuitry of the device. Off you go to the nearest repair center pleading and paying a ridiculous sum through your teeth for it to be fixed . Between the days spent waiting for the device, you ’ ll be half crazed with boredom and loneliness of great degree and wondering why bad things happen to good people like… . All the time , the one affordable thing that could save you is sitting in your mother ’ s kitchen , probably what you had for breakfast ; RICE ! (WTF !!) Yes you read correctly RICE . What you may or may not know is that rice is a natural desiccant ( drying agent) and due to its high affinity to water it can be used to absorb moisture from electronic devices. So if your phone accidentally plops into a bucket of water or your toilet , don ’ t fret , all you have to do is pick it out ( do not turn it on or plug in) , take out the battery, get plastic bag or a plastic bowl with cover, pour uncooked rice, immerse your phone and battery in the rice and close ( airtight) . Leave for at least 24 hrs before attempting to turn on the device. Guaranteed , your device will come out nice , dry with full functionality . P. s: if your phone falls into hot water or pot of soup, after mourning that device get a new one and don ’ t steal from your mother ’ s pot again
