Sixth Grader Writes a 57-Page Book About Bitcoin
Andrew Courey is a middle school student from Massachusetts, and he hopes to earn $20Mn by the age of fourteen. Courey made an agreement with his parents who said if he earned $20Mn by then, he could drop out of school much like the bitcoin millionaire Erik Finman’s deal with his parents. So after countless hours of research and Youtube videos covering the subject of bitcoin Courey decided to write a book on the topic. The book called “Early Bird Gets The Bitcoin: The Ultimate Guide To Everything About Bitcoin,” is available on Amazon in both e-book form or as a paper copy.

The introduction states:

Today we will be learning about an online currency created by Satoshi Nakamoto, and by the end, you will become a master of bitcoin.

Courey’s dad is a tech investor and prompted Andrew to put his studies to good use by publishing a book about bitcoin in a more simplified manner.

“Anyone can learn about cryptocurrencies if they’re willing to spend 70 to 80 hours researching every source until they find a couple sources that make sense,” Andrew explains in a recent interview with CNBC. “The whole book, in the simplest terms, is very easy to read and simple to understand.”

Justice Dept Looks to Develop ‘Cryptocurrency Strategy
According to multiple reports, the Justice Department is planning to launch a comprehensive strategy for cryptocurrencies. In a caucus filled with American bankers, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said cryptocurrencies are a “new challenge” and the agency is planning on tending to the issue soon. At the Financial Services Roundtable Rosenstein discussed the subject of cryptocurrencies with Governor Tim Pawlenty (R-MN).

Court Strikes Down Ban on 40 Bitcoin Sites in Russia
Saint Petersburg City Court has struck down a ban on 40 bitcoin related websites offering information about cryptocurrencies and exchange services in Russia. The ban was imposed by a district court in May last year, following a request from the Prosecutor’s Office. It prohibited the “spreading of information” about bitcoin, as well as buying and selling cryptos.
In what seems to be a small, but important victory for the Russian crypto community, the City Court of Saint Petersburg has struck down a ban that affected more than 40 websites related to bitcoin. It was imposed by a district court in May 2017, after a request from the Prosecutor’s Office in the Northern Capital of Russia. The measure effectively restricted access to the internet platforms and prevented the exchange services offered by some of them.

Following last year’s ban, the owners of the websites appealed the local judicial authorities’ decision in the second-largest Russian city. The Oktyabrsky District Court had stated that the spreading of information about bitcoin and the use of cryptocurrencies was illegal in the Russian Federation. Its decision was forwarded to the Russian telecommunications supervisory agency Roscomnadzor, which was supposed to blacklist the sites.

Japan’s SBI Holdings Claims 40% Stake in Hardware Wallet Company
Japan’s Strategic Business Innovator Group (SBI) is a financial services company launched in 1999 and is headquartered in Tokyo. The study also found that 56 percent of those interviewed intend to acquire more digital money. The Financial Stability Board, G20’s global watchdog, does not consider cryptocurrencies a risk to financial stability. In a letter to the Group of 20 central bankers and finance ministers, its Chair Mark Carney said FSB was pivoting away from designing new policies and focusing on reviewing existing rules.
