How Not To Spend Children's Day With Children.... With Pictures by naijacarlovers: 7:37pm On May 31, 2016
I was in Enugu over the weekend and as I got to Ogui Road, the whole place was briming with children celebrating the Children's Day (May 27th) in and around the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

The traffic was moving slowly when I looked to my left and saw a car on the opposite lane with three young children standing and poking their heads through the moonroof of the car .

That was a very improper and unsafe move on the part of who was driving the car. It is without doubt that road crashes and incidents occur without warning and the results can be catastrophic.

Common road safety tenets dictate that children of such age should not be allowed to ride in the front seat, rather be well strapped with seat belts in the rear seats or even strapped in child seats at the rear but the 'adult' driving felt that all those guides for improved safety on our roads are not necessary as he rather opened the roof
for them and allowed them be riding and 'forming' politicians greeting their constituents through the moonroof.

OK naa, 'kwantinue' you hear!

One thing he failed to realize was that another car can run into their car and that would pose a tremendous danger to the lives of those children he allowed to endanger their lives.

It has been proven time and time again that children been strapped with seat belts at the rear seat or in a children's seat at the rear is the best way to transport young children so that in the event there is a crash, they will fare better as these devices and location will help them by saving their lives and or even withstand the impact and severity of the crash much better.

Another important point is that encouraging children to do such will not lay down the right manners of road usage and driving which will guide them to adulthood and also passed on to the next generation.

Let us all in our capacity always do the right thing on the roads whether there are traffic enforcement officers or not so that we can safely and responsibly use our roads thereby saving lives and properties that are mostly avoidably lost to road crashes.
