Learn How to Develop/Design a Blogger blog: The beginners bible by Nobody: 10:59am On Jun 01, 2016
the Blogger.com is a free service by Google.com. Which allows you to create a free blog with a sub-domain and free webhosting Although it is free to create a blog on Blogger.com, but it comes with certain limitations and the comparison between blogger and wordpress is beyond the scope of this post. However if you have decided to go through this route where you don’t need to invest on a custom domain and web hosting to start a blog, then lets proceed to
create a blog with
Blogger.com.

So let’s start creating a free
blog with Blogger.com

How do i get to Register a Blogger.com Blog?

Step 1:- Signup Here:- http://www.blogger.com (If you already have a Gmail Account then you can easily signup using your existing gmail account.)

Step 2:- After creating Blogger.com account you will be redirected to your Dashboard Click on the “ New Blog” to create your first free blog.

Step 3:- A popup window will appear where you will need to add a “ Title ” for your blog.
This title will be the title of your Home Page. And then in the next box enter a web address for your blog. You can enter any web address
that is available for registration. If the web
address is already taken then you will need to try for another web address.

Note:- The ..com is already written by default. You just need to enter a web
address for your blog and after registration the web address combined with the .com will be your final address for your blog.
as an example www.naijland..com

After setting a web address select a template for your blog. A template is the look and appearance of a blog. There are several free
templates available for blogger. You can select any of them.

After entering all the details click on the “ Create blog! ” button to register your free
blog.

Step 4:- Once you create a blog you will be redirected to your Blogger Dashboard. You can either enter your web address in the browser to view your blog OR you can click on the “View Blog” button next to your newly created blog to open it in a new tab.

The “View Blog” button will open your blog in a new tab. However as it is a brand new blog you will not see any articles inside it. Only the Home Page title will be shown on the blog. You can see your web address in your browser address bar (i.e http://
naijland..com as in my own case) . This will be the address of your blog and is also known as the Home Page.

This is how you can create a free blog in Blogger.com. You can create upto 100 blogs per account and can store upto 15GB of dat if your blogger.com account is integrated with Google+. Now that you have created a blog lets go through all the important features of blogger so that you can easily add and remove new articles, pages and other features.

Setting Up Your Blogger Blog

Go back to your blogger dashboard and click on the blog title. This will open all the settings of the blog.

you would see on the left side all the features are listed. Currently the “Overview” menu is selected which shows you the number of pageviews, news from blogger.com and other information. So basically this is the dashboard of the current blog where you can see basic information at a glance.
Let’s go through it one by one

1# – Posts
The first thing is to add an article in your new blog These will be the articles your readers will view on your blog Home Page. You can add unlimited articles to your blog. In order to add a “Post” or also known as “Article, click on the “Posts” menu. This will bring all the posts you have published so far. However as the blog is brand new and there are no posts added, you will see “There are no posts. Create a new post” link.

Step 1:- Click on the “ Create a new post” OR the “ New Post ” from the left side to add an article in your blog.
Step 2:- This will bring the Post Editor where you can write your first article. Inside the article you need to enter the following for any article.

Post: In the Post box you need to enter the title for your article. Do not enter the same title that was entered for the Home Page. Every article should have its own unique title. For example if your Home Page title is “9ja
Gaming Club” then you can write an article about “Top 5 9ja Games of 2014” OR “The
List of High Graphics Games for 9ja ” etc…
Every article must have its own Title. Do not leave this field empty.

Body: The content of an article is known as “Body”. You can enter your article in the field.
After finishing your article click on the "Publish ” button to add the article to your
blog. Now you will be redirected to the “Posts” menu again where you will be able
to see the published article.

Lets ride on

Note:- This is your administrative area and can only been by you. Now one can access it without logging in to your Blogger.com
account. The accessible part of your blog is the web address of your blog. For example in our case the accessible part is our web
address http://naijland..com

Step 3:- Place your mouse on the title of your newly published article and click on the “View” to access the article in your web browser. This will load the article in your browser with its own web address (URL). the URL of the article is the same as the title of the article. This URL is also known as Permalink Structure where the Home Page Web Address/Date/Year/Post Title creates the URL for an article. The Home Page Web Address and Date & Year will be attached with every article you post. However only the Post Title will be different for every article. In this way every article will have its own unique URL that will help you to access it in a web browser. You can add unlimited articles in your blog. However make sure to add unique titles for every article. During creating a Post you can see some extra information on the right side. For example Labels, Permalink, Location and Options.

Labels: In the Labels field you can classify your articles by assigning a label to it. For
example Games, Accessories, Cheats etc…
So basically labels are categories which helps you to classify your content so that your readers can view the content of your blog based on specific category. You can
add multiple Labels for a post by enter the labels separated by a comma. Later in the “Layout” section I will show you how you can
display all your Labels in your Blog sidebar so that your readers can access it.

Permalink: As I said earlier the URL of your article is also known as Permalink. You can
change the permalink of your article here. However it is recommended to leave the
default setting. Options: If you don’t want to
allow your readers to post comments on your articles then you can disable from here. However it is recommended to leave the
default setting.

Up Next
setup pages
Pages are similar to Posts but there is only one difference. Pages does not show on the
Home Page of your blog. However you can add them anywhere in your article to provide certain information to your readers. For example you can add a “Contact Me” page
OR “Advertise” page OR “About Me” page.
You can then add these pages to your blog Menu Bar, Sidebar or Footer.

Step 1:- Click on the “ Pages” menu and then click on “ New Page” or “ Create a new page“.
And enter a title for your page. For example “About Me” or “Contact Me”.

Note:- For Pages there is no option for Labels and Permalink because pages does not show on the Home Page. It is shown in the menu
bar, sidebar or footer only. Add a page and Publish it. Visit the page by clicking on the “View” option. You will see its URL in the browser and all other information you
have added in the page.
