. “I have been in the National Assembly for a while now. I moved from the House of Representatives to the Senate in 2011. But, this time around, I spent about N1 billion. Some of us thought it was going to be business as usual. As I speak, the bank which gave me part of the money is harassing me and even threatening to take over my house in Abuja, which I bought when I came to the Senate in 2011. Only if our journalist can be professional just this once. Imagine if it can be proven that a senator or whatever lawmaker made such an utterance? Unfortunately, our journalists can be manufacturers of fiction. All they need to do is put a quotation mark and claim the person doesn't want his or her name printed. Mtcheew |

We expect good governance, yet we collect funds to vote them in. Nigeria is still a long way from redemption. 4 Likes |

This is no breaking news, some who failed to get elected, already have their cars confiscated/parked at the bank's premises for some while now. This has been happening from time immemorial. The king makers too are largely 'guy men' . . . they take monies/settlements from various aspirants, knowing only one will get that spot . . . it has happened to a few friends of mine, especially those who live abroad; they see them as 'muguns'. |

That is why I always have a good laugh when some youths say they want to float a party. Nigerian politics speaks only one language: money. The more of it you have the better your chances of victory. What the newspaper reported is not new. Politicians break the bank to win elections. Banks find it easier to give "loans" to politicians to seek political offices than help finance a business idea. They made instant returns on such "investments"..... But then, this news looks like a fictitious writing. When news doesn't happen, many editors tend to create them. |
