Well done, progress is wonderful.

Block laying completed and we are about to start work on the decking. The total amount spent on this stage is 1544850 and here are the pictures of what we currently have on site.

I am still worried about this building, cant put my finger on it exactly.

I was looking at your foundation, up to German floor and comparing it with that of AdewaleID (the picture he supplied) and l am wondering whether the two buildings are in the same Ibadan or his own is in a swampy/loose soil environment like Lekii?

I am looking at the thickness/thinness of your German floor and l am not comfortable at all. I hope your Decking is done to standard thickness.
I am looking at the size of your columns and wondering if that size is standard or should be thicker?
Can you tell your Builder to use Stone Dust (as against sharp sand) for the Decking and columns please.
You will thank me latter for that. It only costs a tiny fraction more but the advantages arr unquantifiable.

And please, DO your fence immediately!
Your borehole should have been done by now or before work starts sef. It offers a lot of savings and advantages which most people dont realise until they finish building!

Please does this talk of borehole apply to all? It is difficult getting water in my area in Imo (hearing 400ft). So can an underground tank with rain fill be a good alternative?

I am at the decking stage of a 4-flats of 3-bed house like yours and it seems the quote I got is on the high side.

Please share your quotes if you can. I will appreciate it and I'm sure others will as well, at some point or the other.

@Daboomb the two properties are in different states(Lagos & Oyo). Olumz1 is building in my home state lol, Oyo is not Swampy like Lagos.

I appreciate your observation. In fact that's the main reason for this thread. This is my first project and every suggestion would be very helpful. I had a chat with my site supervisor and he gave me some feedbacks based on your worries.

My land is a very dry land(not swampy, in fact on a hill), so there's no reason to spend too much on the foundation, but we ensured the basic standards were met. The standard thickness for a german floor is about 4" and mine is 5". Even though I would do anything to make sure I build a standard structure, I still need to bear in mind this is a commercial building and if I start to invest in unnecessary features, the house might be too expensive for the area. Based on your observation, I've agreed with the supervisor to mix the sharp sand with some stonedust.

I honestly do not know how they've been sourcing for water but I know I've never had to pay for water . However, I'll be on a look out for a good deal on borehole very soon. The aim is to build a beautiful and affordable place for the people of Ibadan, and that we shall all achieve together.

I like what I'm seeing. It brings me much joy to see how your site has grown . I'm sorry I haven't posted the quote for my decking, It'll come right after this comment. I have asked them to stop work as i'll be in Nija in about 2 weeks time. I want the decking to be done in my presence. With God, AdewaleID, we'll both finish our projects.

I learnt from the second stage not to trust any supplier, I found out that one of my sand supplier has been supplying me 15 tonnes for the price of 30 tonnes, he tried to bribe my workers and said those of us abroad are also stealing from oyinbo . If you're on ground, please double check everything you're supplied.
