Fire engulfed Mararaba market in Nasarawa on Tuesday evening around 8pm local time.

Eye witnesses have confirmed that Mararaba main market located within Karu local government area of Nasarawa state is on fire.

According to one of the eye witnesses, Mr. Boniface Ogar who spoke to www.metronaija.com that the fire started around 8pm when most shop owners have closed for the day's business.

Mararaba is a border town neighbouring Nyanya, Abuja's suburb town.

Fire ambulances were seen by our reporters enroute the market area as at press time.

Oh dear Lord! I had just begun to believe that d era of fire outbreaks in Nigerian markets had passed so traders would have some respite and now this!!
I can't even begin to imagine the monumental losses with store owners looking on helplessly, watching investments go up in flames before their very eyes...

Thats my major concern, there are too many criminals in that area who will loot whatever can be salvaged. The irony is that if they are caught and reported to Mararaba Police Station, you will see them freed and back on the streets again in a matter of hours by the pedestrian bridge snatching bags.

MARARABA is not in Abuja.

But it is 10 minutes drive from Aso Rock Villa while Abuja airport is 45 minutes from the Villa. Even Buhari can see it from his window and thats why people confuse it to be in Abuja.
