Senior Police Officers To Declare Assets - Acting IG by Marcelinho(m): 6:51am On Jun 24, 2016
The acting inspector-general of police,
Ibrahim Idris, has declared that all officers
from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of
Police (ASP) to inspector-general of police
will henceforth declare their assets.

According to Vanguard, Idris made the
statement on Thursday, June 23 in Abuja
when he paid a courtesy visit to the minister
of interior Abdulrahman Dambazau.

The police boss said the directive was in line
with Section 13 cap 15 Code of Conduct Act.
He said under his command, the integrity of
the Nigeria Police force will be raised to be
more accountable to the people and would
operate within the rule of law.

He said the presence of police officers
would be felt in all villages and streets
across the country.

On his part, the minister of Interior,
Dambazau urged the actin IG to focus on
three key issues of corruption, economy and
security for the success of this
administration.

He called on the new police boss to
collaborate with other security agencies to
address the issues of crimes and post
conflict resolution in the North-East, adding
that that the police need the support of
others.

The minister also urged the IG to make the
welfare of his officers a priority and assured
him of the support of the ministry to
discharge his mandate.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari
says he retained the outgoing Inspector
General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase
when he assumed office on May 29, 2015,
because of Arase’s dossier and his
intellectual capacity in the field of
operations.

Buhari who spoke at the public presentation
of a publication “Cascade of Change: A
Decade Of Liberal Thoughts” authored by
the Lagos state commissioner for
information, Steve Ayorinde, said a
combination of qualities possessed by Arase
convinced him to retain him till the end of
his his tenure, The Nation reports.

Yes that is the way to go.

I heard all bankers are mandated to declare their assets too.

It was in the CBN rule a long time ago but never enforced.
