On this day in 1987, a young boy was born in Rosario, Argentina in a poor family. He was always smaller than the other boys around him.
He started playing for a local club team where his grandmother took him everyday, His family was told that this boy had great potential so they took him to Rosario's big club , Newell old boys.
In his years there he turned into a young star astonishing many coaches. At a young age he was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency disorder which was fatal for his career. Being from a poor family he had no means to pay for the treatment, his club paid for sometime then they couldn't afford it too but they arranged for his trials to European big guns like FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
His parents spoke Spanish so they decided to go to a Spanish club only. Luckily the club destined for him was FC Barcelona. On his trials there the manager was too impressed but he wanted to consult the board but Leo's dad gave the club ultimatum to sign a contract on that day only, There was no paper available so Leo's first contract was historically signed on a paper napkin, as per the promise barca got Leo treated and he was all good in a few years, At the age of 16 he made his first debut for barca C team followed by B teams and the senior team.
Impressing in all, he became the main man for Barca when Ronaldinho left. At the young age of 21, he won his first ballon d'or (given to the football player of the calendar year and youngest player to win the award). Winning 4 in a row and becoming the first to win 4 and all in a row , he became the highest goalscorer in a calendar year with an astonishing 91 goals in 2012 , he later became highest la liga scorer, highest Barcelona goalscorer , highest goals against real Madrid , and beat maradona and batistuta to become the biggest goalscorer for Argentina , he turns 29 today and has won 30 team trophies , 5 ballon d'ors , 3 golden boots , a world cup golden ball and many more records to his name and still the most humble man on the planet....
