Novartis, even though you have been refunded (because they succeeded in arm-twisting you to do their bidding, which is a little understandable), dont take this matter lying low.

Make an official report of this incident, adding the part that you sent them your ID, so that in the event that a crime is committed with it, it will be on record that persons of questionable character got hold of it earlier.
