Liverpool have clinched the signing of Sadio Mane from Southampton for a fee of around £30million.

The Senegal international forward has signed a five-year contract with the Merseysiders.

Mane, 24, is the third most expensive buy in the club's history, behind only Andy Carroll (£35million) and Christian Benteke (£32.5m).


“Today is a big day and I am very happy to sign for one of the biggest clubs in Europe," he told Liverpool's official website.

“It’s a club that has won a lot of trophies and has a big history. Now I am looking forward to meeting all the staff and my team-mates and starting the season."

Mane is the fourth signing made by Jurgen Klopp, who has already brought in centre-back Joel Matip, midfielder Marko Grujic and goalkeeper Loris Karius.

He is fifth player in the last three seasons to leave Southampton for Liverpool after Dejan Lovren, Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne all made the same switch.

Mane scored 25 goals in 75 appearances for the south coast club having joined them from Red Bull Salzburg in 2014.
