Lionel Messi, Argentina and Barcelona FC footballer, will appeal against a Spanish court decision Wednesday that sentenced him to 21 months in jail for tax fraud, the player’s lawyers say.
This disclosure came shortly after the court handed down its verdict in a celebrated tax fraud case involving the world’s second most valuable footballer, based on earnings, and his father, Jorge Messi.
Messi was sentenced to 21 months in jail and fined €2 million for failing to pay tax for three years.
Messi’s father, Jorge, was handed the same sentence with a €1.5 million fine for defrauding Spain of €4.1 million from 2007 to 2009.

He should be treated the way he treats defenders and goalkeepers in spain.

Europe is no respecter of anybody. I doubt if our dubious big men and polithiefians here in Nigeria pay tax,,

I wonder when this kind of verdict will take place in our country considering all the rigmarolling of judicial processes and delay of proceeding by unnecessary legal technicalities.

Check out how expeditious this trial went. No adjournment till thy kingdom come. Just straight and no preference for the personality involved. In other words, no SAN talking nonsense.

I wish him luck in his appeal though
