IMO GOVERNMENT, SECURITY AGENCIES TAKE BATTLE TO THE KIDNAPPERS DEN

... DEMOLISH OVER 15 HOUSES BELONGING TO CRIMINALS, COLLABORATORS

In a bid to consolidate her hard earned status as the safest State in Nigeria, Imo State Government in collaboration with Nigeria Police and other security agencies have resolved to end any atom of criminality by taking the battle to the criminals.

The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere disclosed this while fielding questions from some newsmen during a demolition of over fifteen buildings belonging to criminals (names withheld) in Mgbuishii and Umuagwu autonomous communities of Ohaji-Egbema Local Government of Imo State.

He disclosed that those whose buildings are being demolished were caught in the act of kidnapping, armed robbery and other criminal activities including their collaborators. He revealed that the code name for the operation is "Operation Oshebee".

Prince Madumere emphasized the need for people to shun the wrong attitude of abating crime as there are punishments for collaborators and those whose facilities are used for the criminal activities.

He used the opportunity to warn the youth to shun crime in whatever guise as the State Government will not spare anyone who will bring disaffection and insecurity to the State. He reminded them the need to appreciate the effort of the government in youth empowerment through free education policy from primary to tertiary level, skill acquisition especially in the area of agriculture and agribusiness.

While recalling that security of life and property remains the first charge of Owelle Rochas Okorocha led Rescue Mission Administration, he commended Taiwo Lakanu led Imo State Police command, the Army, civil defense and other security agencies for their collaborative effort to ensuring that Imo is safe.

Speaking further, the number two citizen assured the elated people of Ohaji-Egbema, the entire people of Imo State and beyond Owelle Rochas Okorocha led government readiness to stamp out crime to make Imo conducive for investment and growth sociopolitical and economic wise.

In the same vein, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu said the resolve to take the battle back to the criminals has become necessary so as to stop them from operating at all. He revealed that a lot of intelligence has gone into the new approach to combating crime.

Speaking further, he said he is happy with the crime-free status of Imo State, which he said must be sustained especially at a time when every State of the Federation is yearning for investment so as to avert any security issues that may affect the development policies and programmes of the State. He said such steps will also serve as a deterrent to others.

He, however commended Owelle Rochas Okorocha for improvement in the security infrastructures in the State and for rapid response when it comes to her own responsibilities towards arresting some situations while they are still manageable.

The high point of the operation was the accolades from the community leaders and among large crowd that beseech the flash points as some were talking to themselves in twos and threes. Some of the villagers also registered their readiness to give vital information that will help for further investigations though but pleaded anonymous.
