Thanks to the Chinese government's ban on Twitter, Instagram and other social media apps, the Chinese have WeChat.

And oh boy can they innovate! While the poor western masses are switching between FB, Twitter, Instagram, Chinese are enjoying all the functions of those apps under one roof. IM? you got it; share photos? you got that too; you wanna sell stuff? There's 'Friend Circle'; you wanna do voice chat? There you have it! You wanna send money? No problem! Red pocket for your group chat? Done! Subscription to popular channels? We have thousands!

It's not that Chinese are dependent on WeChat, its that by far and large, it is simply a superior piece of software. Granted, it might have taken a few core concepts from other popular software, but hey, who's to blame? We made nuclear bomb from scrap papers left behind by the Soviet scientists, this is nothing.

It's even got me hooked.
