At some points in our journey in acquiring knowledge, we get scared at how the semester is speedily running to an end with examination running with it. We are all guilty of getting pressured during this period. We stop our normal daily routine; like eating at least two square meals, washing, chilling with friends, some of us stop going to church, or reduce going. Instead we try to read all day and night. This can actually get one stressed and eventually increases the number of students that fall sick during this period, which in turn increases the number of students that patronise the school clinic. You don’t have to put your life on hold because of the forthcoming examination, all you need to do is re-strategize and plan. Here are some steps to follow to write your examination successfully without putting yourself under pressure.

Ø SET YOUR GOALS: just imagine a football pitch without goal posts, yes exactly; the game is going to be fruitless. So is a vision or work without outlined goals. Set your goals for the examination you are about to write. State the result you want, put a figure to it.

Ø GET YOUR MIND PREPARED: success don’t just happen; you have to consciously make it happen. And the mind is one of the instruments to use to achieve success, because “where the mind goes the man follows”. During this period, you have to remove all fears from your mind, and envisage success. Use your mind to attract the success your desire. Think about this; what will your result be if you have no limitation in achieving it? Answer this question truthfully and remove the limitations you have set for yourself in your mind. Don’t limit yourself by predicting failure for yourself in your mind. I will say; think your way to your A’s.

Ø PLAN: plan how you want to achieve your set goals; definitely you have to study for success in examinations. Plan your daily activities. During this period, reading must be your fist priority. Plan each day with time. Write out your daily plan and stick to it.

Ø READ: we get it all wrong when we start reading first for an examination without set goals. It is the goals you have set for yourself that will push you to how much you will study. It is also important to know your reading habit and follow it; don’t imitate other people. For instance, some people assimilate more in a quiet environment while some can assimilate in any kind of environment, some can study both during the day and at night while others can just study during the day. plan your reading around your reading habit. And if you don’t know your reading habit, it’s not too late to discover it.

Ø PLAN A REWARD: planning to reward yourself if you achieve your goal and plans for the examination will push you to study hard. You can plan a special treat for yourself after the examination.

Ø PRAY: prayer they say is the key. Pray for success and favour in your examination. I say; do your best in the examination and pray the rest to God.

Ø PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS AND INSTRUCTION: make sure you study the question first and understand what you are to answer before you start writing. Read the instructions before you start writing, don’t assume you know what the examiner wants, you never can tell, there might be a change or specific instruction.

Ø EAT WELL: dont skip meals, eat good food and not junks. Because you need all the energy you can get. Dont starve yourself.

Ø REST WELL: yes, you need to rest so as to recuperate from hours of brain work. you are not a robot, set time apart to rest. Breaking down won't do you any good.Remember you will neeed strength and enerrgy to write the examination.
