1. Legend tells of an Arab goat herder who
noticed their change in mood when his goats ate
a certain berry. He boiled the berries and came
up with the first coffee.

The legend being referred to by Paul Vallely is expounded upon in the Coffee History, found on decentcoffee.com:

"Arabian coffee-drinking began almost 12 centuries ago (850 A.D.) when an Abyssinian goat herder named Khalid noticed that while the afternoon sun made him drowsy, his flock frolicked and skipped about after nibbling at some berries. Khalid either ate the berries whole, or ground and boiled them.

When his wife saw how energetic the normally exhausted Khalid was, she urged him to share this miraculous discovery with the local holy man at the monastery. The chief monk did not share Khalid's enthusiasm. Declaring the berries "the work of the Devil," he flung them into a fire to banish their offending presence. Soon the room filled with the delicious aroma of roasting berries, and other monks hurried in to discover the source of this new delight."
Notice above, that the passage says the goat herder named Khalid (or Kaldi as he is named in another version of the story) was an Abyssinian. Abyssinians were predominantly Orthodox Christians. In addition, there is no such thing as monasteries or monks in Islam. In fact, it is forbidden (Qur'an 57:027). Therefore, if this legend were to be true, Khalid (or Kaldi) would not have been a Muslim, but a Christian.

Also, the discovery of coffee, according to the maronite monk Antonius Faustus Naironus (1635–1707 AD), differs somewhat from the above tale. In "De saluberrima potione Cahue, seu Cafe nuncupata discursus" (1671) he writes, that a herdsman complained to the Prior of a nearby monastery in Abyssinia, that his animals could not sleep. Two monks, together with the herdsman, were sent by their superior to investigate what it was the animals were eating. They discovered coffee plants which they took back to the monastery, where they brewed a beverage from its fruits. They passed the whole night in pleasant conversation, without any fatigue.[3]

2. The ancient Greeks thought light emitted from
the eye (like a laser) causing us to see. It was a
Muslim mathematician in the 10th Century that
instead realized light entered into the eye.
Astronomer and physicist Ibn al-Haitham
invented the first pin-hole camera after
observing light entering a hole in the shutters. The
smaller the hole was, the clearer the image.

The basic optical principles of the pinhole are commented on in Chinese texts from the 5th century BC..[4] Both the claims, that he created intromission theory, and that he invented the pin-hole camera, are false. Intromission theory (opposing emission theory) originated in Greek philosophy, and its proponents included Aristotle, Galen, and Empedocles. Giovanni Battista della Porta (1538–1615), a scientist from Naples, was long thought to have been the inventor, due to his description found inside Magia naturalis (1558). However, the first published picture of a pin-hole camera is a drawing in Gemma Frisius' De Radio Astronomica et Geometrica (1545).[5]

While both the Latin and Arabic languages have borrowed from each other, the Latin language actually pre-dates classic Arabic (the precursor to modern Arabic) by at least 1,600 years. The term “camera” was not derived from the Arabic word “qamara”. “Camera” is a Latin word meaning a vaulted or arched space, derived from the Greek καμαρα, which refers to anything with an arched cover. The Italian word "camera", the French word "chambre", and the English word "chamber" all share the same Latin root. "Camera obscura" literally meaning a “dark room”.[6][7] The term “camera”, as applied today, was first coined by Johannes Kepler (1571–1630). The Arabic word “qamara” has almost certainly been borrowed from the Latin word "camera", and at best the similarity between the two words is a coincidence.[5]

Muslim or Arab inventions? I never heard of Christian, Jewish, Budist, Hindu, Shinto or Babalawo inventions. Why are Muslims always trying to let the world know they are truly the best of mankind (Quran 3:110) and we infidels are the worst of creatures (qurann 98:6), according to allahh? And yet the Muslims, like babies, cannot feed themselves but have to migrate to the land of the infidels, US, Germany, France, Britain, Sweden, Canada, Australia, etc in order to get a better life.

Muslim inventors should migrate to Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Sudan, Somalia, Libya, etc where we infidels will not disturb them and allahh instead of running to we kafirs.

Is refuting something false a bad thing? Any ideology that is scared of constructive criticism was never a solid and true ideology. If you have proof that all what's provided in that link are false please provide it, let's learn something new

Firstly, if you want to refute anything, present from unbiased sites. Imagine "wikiislam" which wanted to supposedly refuted the Halocline phenomenon in the Qur'an presenting only sources from Wikipedia about estuaries and other mushroom sources. The remaining of the article was from the writers brain and he claimed to be an oceanographer.

Secondly, for you to think anyone would be going through the articles which are written purposely for hatred of Islam, I think you must be joking. It's just as if you say, we should go through "Answeringislam" site and start refuting? No one is jobless her!

I still do not see the relevance of all you typed up there to this present thread. The whole thing was screaming: I am muslim therefore anything no matter how remotely true is Anti-Islam basically how some Nigerian Imams preach. Let's take the camera for example: Here's a quote from a site that deals purely with photography, nothing religious
Early Observations and Experiments

The basic optical principles of the pinhole are commented on in Chinese texts from the fifth century BC. Chinese writers had discovered by experiments that light travels in straight lines. The philosopher Mo Ti (later Mo Tsu) was the first – to our knowledge – to record the formation of an inverted image with a pinhole or screen. Mo Ti was aware that objects reflect light in all directions, and that rays from the top of an object, when passing through a hole, will produce the lower part of an image (Hammond 1981:1). According to Hammond, there is no further reference to the camera obscura in Chinese texts until the ninth century AD, when Tuan Chheng Shih refers to an image in a pagoda. Shen Kua later corrected his explanation of the image. Yu Chao-Lung in the tenth century used model pagodas to make pinhole images on a screen. However, no geometric theory on image formation resulted from these experiments and observations (Hammond 1981:2).

How does the above post correlate to being anti-islam? undecided undecided If you read further the Arab physicist was also mentioned but in the tenth century. How is this false? And how is this Anti-Islam?

Like I said in this other silly thread : https://www.nairaland.com/3255037/whats-contributions-christianity-modern-science#47986558 Threads like this are just pointless chest beating between Christians and Muslims. All these inventions are rarely based on the religious principle itself.

Wikiislam is an anti islamic website, it was dedicated to spread lies against Islam. When you want to debate, bring unbiased sources, quote scholars not some rubbish apologetic websites.

WikiIslam is an anti-Islamic wiki, describing itself as "[a wiki with] 2500+ critical articles on various areas of Islam based on its own sources, the Qur'an, hadith and Islamic scholars."

It was launched on September 4, 2006, in collaboration with Ali Sina and Faith Freedom International (FFI) who provided the site with server space and exposure.

......WikiIslam claims to be neutral towards all religions except Islam

Inventions are religiously based to some extent, people like Arabs, Turks, Blacks all suddenly became achievers solely because of Islam. Islam as you know requires you search for knowledge in order to benefit the society. So you can find Muslims who travel all the way from Uzbekistan to Egypt just to acquire knowledge. So it greatly influenced it!

Science and invention has been on for a very long time in the world, the more united and prosperous a society is the more creative it becomes. This also happened with Great Britain, when they had their industrial revolution. Note also that no Muslim scientists of the ancient world can be compared to the likes of Newton, Albert Einstein, Leonardo, or even Archimedes of Ancient Greece. If Islam truly inspires science this should not be the case. Muslims only improved on existing science( which is marvelous), but if you take away the contribution of Muslims just like the Hindus and Chinese, the world would hardly feel it compared to that of say Newton, Faraday or lord kelvin.
Also ask yourself this, if Muslim scientists were that good as you claim, then we should have seen great discoveries from them in those centuries or even now. True, Europeans learnt somethings from Islamic researchers when they were still in the dark without the existing Greek materials which the Muslims had access to. But Alas, when Europe got on her feet, they didn't just improve on existing science, they practically turned the world around, and they didn't need Muslims or Islam to do this

Why is the muslim world not as advanced if they were truly that great? Why didn't we have computers, aeroplanes, radio, etc from them.
Like l said, the Muslims had access to Greek books the Christians did not have until they came in contact with Muslims, then they went beyond what the Muslims, chinese, or even the greeks had ever done.

Muslims far advanced what was to be found in those greek books which was more of philosophizing than actual science with some exception in Greek mathematics. Moreover, how did the europeans even come in contact with the greek books in the first place?
My main point here is on ISLAM...all those advancements were all from different races not even arab alone and all happened under the Islamic caliphates.were the Muslims to suddenly surpass the west today,I wouldn't place the achievement on Islam,as we know they are run more according to the west than Islam.

If that is your point, then you are right, Islam brought them all under one rule which enabled unity and progress. But again this is not unique to Islam. When the Roman Empire fell due to Babarian attacks, the barbarians themselves were all brought together by Christianity because they converted to the christian religion. The church then helped in preservation of Roman culture and Europe ascended slowly. Contrary to what some atheists would tell you, the dark ages was the natural result of the fall of the Roman empire and this was inevitable. Also the catholic church was all for learning, and there were great philosophers and readers in those days. The difference is that they only improved slowly and did not have access to the works of the Greeks like the Muslims.
The real reason why the west took science to another level from the 15th century is majorly because of the printing press. The printing press was most useful to the Europeans because they felt the need to print the bible for everyone to read. With the advent of protestant theology, salvation for the individual souls was dependent on the bible, so everyone had to read the bible, this improved literacy rate in the west by far, and in turn, tons of scientific materials were printed as well, and studied by the common man.
