Pastor E. A. Adeboye, aka Papa Adeboye, The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG,  during Church Service on the last Sunday of July 2016, warned his members in the habit of introducing tribalism into the RCCG, especially concerning unions to desist from such.

Adeboye warned that anyone who introduces ethnicity into the fabrics of the mission will die a sudden and premature death.

He gave this warning at the end of Ministers’ Conference of the church, stating that he had already prayed earnestly to God concerning the matter.

His words, “Whosoever tries to pollute the fast-growing denomination through the canker worm of ethnicity will die before his or her day.

“Tell all your friends that I’ve prayed a prayer that anyone, whoever, tries to introduce tribalism into RCCG shall die.

“Like Ananias and Sapphira died suddenly and prematurely, anyone including the G.O himself, who tries to introduce tribalism will die suddenly and prematurely.

“The Governing Council asked me to caution ministers of the mission to avoid the error of match-making brothers and sisters for marriage. This could result in some adverse effects.

“The Governing Council also asked me to warn you not to get yourself entangled with marriage among your members.

Papa Adeboye went on warned against "arranged" marriages,  saying that the Church should not be led to praying prayers for the fruit of the womb due to such arrangements.  He painted a scenario where a brother and sister are arranged to marry each other only for it to be discovered that woman in question was a witch,  thereby attracting curses from the brother.
