I am obliged to bring to us some safety tips which could be of help in curbing domestic accidents which leads to injuries and in some cases death which we read almost on daily basis. The tips are things we can do on our own in our homes without wanting the government to do for us as we always wish they should do everything for grin
Most of the tips going to be mentioned are already known to us and can serve as a reminder while most can be strange to some of us but has been brought to us at the expense of our data but data is nothing compared to life. If safety is expensive, try accident.

1. When leaving your apartment switch of the power from the main switch (or change over) whether you usually have light or PHCN has forgotten your area. This is to prevent electric fire outbreak that can occur as a result of you not being around to notice power surge or electronic malfunction.

2. Put your generators far from your building to avoid inhaling carbon monoxide and to prevent suffocation

3. Keep drugs, vehicle keys, chemicals, weapons (i.e for policemen and hunters) away from the reach of children to avoid stories that make front page on NL

4. For substances that are not in their original containers, label the containers to avoid food poisoning, explosion and the likes

5. For those that use gas cookers/ camp gas, when you refill your gas cylinders and you connect it to the cooker or burner, use soapy water to rub at the joints to check for leakages

6. If you enter a room or kitchen and you perceive smell of gas, do not put on any form of light, open the doors and windows, remove phones and anything that can trigger a spark if not you might not hear your story

7. Do not place candles on wooden, plastic or foil materials as stand

8. Do not use your phone as source of light when going to put on or put off generators. You might not be lucky

9. Do not use wet hands to put on/off sockets and switches

10. When working on electrical units or outlets in your homes/ anywhere put out the power source and inform everyone not to put it on

11. Do not leave loose wires to be dangling around. Fix them to avoid shock

12. If you're feeling weak/ dizzy/ tipsy/ sleepy, etc do not cook

13. Do not use handless pots, kettles in the kitchen, they might slip off your hands and spill hot sauce on you

14. Do not leave wet floors unattended, they cause trips and falls

15. Pray- God saves us from mishaps

You can add yours
