INNOCENT CHILDREN DON'T DESERVE THIS!

These starving kids never asked to be born
Each second lived they've been made to pay
Sins of their forefathers they never partook
Still the failed system's forced them to pay

How do I look these hungry kids in the eye
Who'll wipe each other's teary eye
Nigeria had enough to meet all their needs
But squandered all to feed men's greed

Soon I'd be a father and proud
Would I shift blames like my "fathers" all proud
Would I be honest to tell my child the truth
That the nation's failed cause of our own greed

What's the prize for being Nigerian
Is it being "labelled" or rejected by media
Politicians we very much thought could lead us
Were much much blind to their own visions

Where does this leave the one nation
Many've clamoured "split the damn nation"
But how's a split ever the solution
When factions would be led by soiled hands;
Same hands who aided to wreck the nation.

In who is lasting solution; the leaders or the followers
Where does change begin; our hearts or their bellies
Would Nigeria's history be rewritten; in ink or in blood
None of these sufferings innocent kids deserve at all
........
