there is little industry to consume d produce and local consumption is not worth d effort and capital invested into agribusiness,how then do we generate FOREX if our target is produce&Consume style
may I also state that our fellow ECOWAS neighbours can't buy agric produce from us because they are self sufficient in food production and at cheaper price compare to ours

Most agric businesses dont do business plan and feasibility study, result is definitely zero and post harvest loss. I just finished digesting Tomato Jos Business plan, you see their clear roadpath, model and their strategy for growth. With the business plan, no post harvest loss will emerge.

We are too greedy and selfish, that,s the simple thruth. People need to come together and operate as a Cluster and create industry along the value chain. If we have 1000 tomato farmers for example in Jethro,s location, they can achieve more together in terms of creating a tomato paste factory in their location;access funds from govt, make the location a hub for tomato in South West, reduce their cost of production, target export market to Europe and the rest of the world.

You also need to know that local demand of these products exceed its supply thats why we import virtually everything to complement what is on ground. For example, to be successful as a orange farmer, you must ensure consistency in production throughout the year and simultaneously work on having a small scale processing unit to process your fruits into juice in period of glut.

We need private investors to invest in storage system for fresh perishable goods.
Preservation during harvesting is highly essential in having produce all year round.

There is always market if we can produce quality and be consistence with our production. Farmers need to be assisted with good seeds and be taught Good Agricultural Practises.

that has been our basic challenges as an agro allied industry.. what we need to do is to form an export company that will see to perishables been exported...
