When a then 19 year old Lucas Moura moved from Sao Paolo to Paris Saint Germain for £35 million in 2012, then Manchester United manager exclaimed that football has gone mad. With 23 year old Paul Pogba returning to Old Trafford for a world record transfer fee of £93 million from Juventus, one couldn't but agree that football has become much crazier.

Real Madrid have been known to hold record of the most expensive transfers when one considers the likes of Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale. With United taking over the record, it puts more pressure on Jose Mourinho to bring the desired results to a side that has struggled to live up to standards of the trophy laden 'Fergie era.'
