A lot has changed since my last analysis on cheapest call rates / tariff plans in Nigeria across all major telecoms companies (MTN, Glo, Airtel and Etisalat)



today I bring you an updated analysis based on recent tariff plans by these telecom companies to help you make a better choice.


Below is update on latest and cheapest call rates / tariff plans in Nigeria, across all networks, as expected many things have changed:



[size=15pt]MTN Cheapest Call Tariff Plans[/size]

MTN Xtrapro has replaced Smoothtalk Plus as the cheapest prepaid tariff plan on MTN Network. This tariff plan will allow you to make call at 11k/sec (6.60k/Min) on flat rate ACROSS ALL local Networks with a daily access fee of N5 but if in some cases MTN were not able to charge you N5 on your first call as a result of insufficient balance, then the call for that day will be charged at 20k/Sec (N12/Min).

Simply dial *401# and select 1 OR sms 401 to 131 to migrate to MTN Xtrapro.
SMS rate is N4.








MTN SmoothTalk Plus is another plan for MTN suscribers that allows you enjoy a FLAT rate of 15 kobo per second for calls ACROSS ALL local Networks after the first minute of the day at 40 kobo per second.

To Migrate to MTN SmoothTalk Plus, dial *401# or send 401 to 131.

Also customers get Free 10MB weekly on N100 recharge, Free N300 airtime weekly on N200 recharge to call 1 (one) registered special number:

Simply dial *380*1# to add your You & Me number.
Simply dial *380*2# to delete your You & Me number.


You will be allowed to register your 1 (one) You and Me number for free the first time that you register them BUT subsequent registrations after the first free registration will be charged at NGN50.00



Another MTN plan is MTN XtraSpecial – a new Tariff plan that allow you make calls at 15k/Sec (N9/Min) flat rate to all networks in Nigeria with no daily access fee and a call to some selected international destination at the same rate with an additional benefit of 7 days free subscription to EPL Video Service.

Easylife 4.0 limited edition is a voice based prepaid plan that gives you amazing rates to all networks in Nigeria and selected international destinations. Calls are charged at 11 kobo/sec with a daily access fee of ₦5 only which is charged on the first call of the day. Access fee is valid till 11.59pm each day. SMS rate is ₦4

Calls to selected international destinations – US, India, China, and UK – landlines is 20k/s.

Our network providers should understand that we need more cheaper calls/data plans in this terrific hard times where the economy is horrific and things are getting so buharific.

Glo and eti have been on this for a very long time now. Thank God mtn has joined the train. I think I'll dust my mtn sim again.
I think they sack the stupid south African man in charge of tariff plan and data. Hence more freebies to come our way.

Please is there any cheap plan on any of the network, like cug line BTW 2 ppl where u pay a specific amt monthly and call the other line as much as u can? No limit on calls?

2. Airtel SmartPremier
On this plan, you can make international calls (only countries listed above) at 11k/s after the first minute at 40k/s. You can also call networks in Nigeria at the same price, with the first minute also at 40k/s. Additionally, you get 15MB on any recharge of airtime. this makes the SmartPremier of Cheapest Airtel Tariff Plans you can migrate to.

・To migrate, Simply dial *318# or send YES to 318.

3. Airtel SmartTRYBE Junior
This plan was specifically created for those with kids, kids can call you for free anytime and send unlimited SMS to you. When you recharge on your Airtel Line, your kid’s Airtel Line instantly get 10% of the airtime. Once you buy over 200MB internet data or above, your kid gets a 100% of that. The first minute to call your kid costs 40k/s but subsequent minutes costs just 11k/s. Although calling other networks in the country is 20k/s, the SmartTrybe Junior is no doubt one of the best Airtel Tariff Plans for 2018.

・To migrate, Simply dial *317# or send YES to 317.

4. Airtel SmartTRYBE
This is the most used plan in Nigeria, once on the plan, you call at 11k/s to all networks while on campus. But you would be charged 20k/s for the first 50 seconds. You also get to access WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, and BBM thanks to the free 15MB. To get the free 15MB, you have to recharge N200 or above in a week. Additionally, when you send 2 SMS, you get 5 free.

・To migrate, Simply dial *312# or send YES to 312.
・To get full Campus bonus, Simply dial *312*1# or send CAMPUS to 312.

5. Airtel SmartVALUE
Do you like to make calls at cheaper rates, the Smartvalue will wow you with its many great features. It is one of the best Airtel Cheapest Tariff Plans for 2018. You will get more value on this plan, make calls to all network in Nigeria 15k/s at the very first second. Also call international numbers above for 20k/s at the very first second, with no daily fees whatsoever.

・To migrate, Simply dial *314#.

6. Airtel SmartConnect
While on this plan, you get 200% bonus and 15MB on all recharges of N200 and above. Not only that, you will also get a bonus of N300 to call family and friends numbers. SmartConnect offers 7 hours of midnight calls to Airtel numbers from 11 pm to 6 am at 11k/sec.

This plan comes with the Sim and it is for new subscribers only.

7. Airtel Value Plan
This is a new plan, in a bid from Airtel to make all calls to be cheap at 11k/s. Well on the Value Plan you get to call networks at 11k/s from the very first minute with no hidden fees. Although not all sims are eligible for this, if you have been using your Airtel sim for long then you should give it a try and you will no doubt enjoy one of the Airtel Tariff Plans you can ever imagine.
