God bless you child. I wish most parents could give their kids opportunity to read daily instead of spending more time watching television and chatting with phones.

While it is commendable, we should ask what exactly does solving maths add to our lives?

I hate formal education. We learn to draw and label insects when we were younger. Till now, it hasn't helped us a bit to better our lives. I still remember dos maths equation we were forced to solve. Today, they are still solving it in sch. Yet, it hasn't brought any positive change.
HA ?

Little wonder they all shouted change and sai baba without knowing anything about the old papas past.

Well, that is because they feel that things like these don't pay.
That's why.

You think they have not helped in anyway but they actually have . These formal education are applied to your everyday cognitive thinking and decision making . Mathematics is applied in our everyday lives.

Wow, that's a commendable feat. Thank God they're just not gonna give her N150,000, while the winner of a beauty pageant gets a Hyundai SUV angry.

1million Naira? Emmm...manageable, we are getting there.

If it were in China or America, the solved 17year old maths question would have add to their economic growth. But in Nigeria, she has not solve any problem as far as we're concern. I respect her courage and that of many struggling to cast a bright light on a nation doomed by greedy evil politicians.

It's common to see comments such as "proudly Igbo" and "proudly Iduduwa", Igbos and Yorubas are well know world over for intellectual successes over the years, how the current generation of Igbos and Yorubas celebrate minute everyday achievements is worrying, it goes to show that the youths are not driven to achieve anything great, given the fact that little achievements means so much to them.

That is because a beauty pageant generates bigger ROI & revenue than these educational shows. Nigerians like you and I are more interested in watching Project Fame and Maltina Dance Hall competition than watching fruitful shows like this, hence, the beauty pageant will always appeal more to an average investor.
You can't blame organizers of these educational shows for the small rewards they give winners, they simply can't give what they don't have.

Sorry to say but your mind set is totally wrong..

Education is a key/basic/bedrock/foundation to every child's starting point..

'If you think education is expensive, try ignorance..'

Mathematics is an everyday applicable course..

**thinking** What will it profit you to make all the money in the world, and employ someone to draw up simple basic calculations for you undecided?

@ topic, WOW!!! Commendable.. If only the price money can be something tangible, though she is leaving a record that would always be referred to..
