Do You Know What The Egyptian Root Word Ntr(god) Is In Chadic/cushite Languages? by rako: 5:28am On Aug 15, 2016
Hello! One of the major questions in Egyptology is the source of Egypt's word for God, spelled "NTR" and pronounced "Neter".

Scholars of Egyptian language say that it should be based in the Afro-Asiatic language family that includes Egyptian, as well as:
Chadic languages (Dark Green in the map below) like Tumak, Nancere, Kera languages; Dangaléat, Mukulu, Sokoro, and others
Cushite languages (Light blue) like Beja/Bedawi, Agaw, Sidamic, Saho-Safar, Somali
Berber languages (Red) Tanfusit and Tuareg

Many Scholars say that originally the African communities that Egyptians came from pronounced K and L where ancient Egyptians pronounced T and R. So these scholars say that NTR used to be pronounced by their African ancestors as NKR. They see the Chadic, Berber, and Cushite languages as potentially rich resources to understand the roots of Egyptian languages, especially the Egyptians' word for God, "NTR".

So my question to you is whether any of you are familiar with the Chadic, Cushite, or Berber languages and might know if there are root words in those languages like NTR, NKL, NTL, NKR that mean anything like "god", "heaven", "nature", nurture", "giving birth", or a "king"?

Thank you!
