Hello folks, it has become so worrisome on how scammers attempt to play dirty tricks on innocents people just in order to milk them dry of their hard earned money. And to make the matter strong, they usually play these their tricks on weekends (dues to the fact that banks are closed and any issue with your bank account/credit card will have to wait until Monday before you can rectify the issue). Many people here will agree with me that at one time or the other they have received SMS, calls, emails that claim they are from your bank telling you to either call or send some vital info in order to rectify some issues with your bank account or credit card only to discover they are fake (well I am not spared), well I’m going to share some vital tips on how to spot and stop scams.

HOW TO SPOT SCAM MESSAGES:
1. Email/SMS content usually comes with a link for customers to click on and recipients are often deceived by phishing attempts since messages appear to be sent by your bank.
2 Someone will call you with a number that looks like a an official presenting him/herself as a representative of your bank (with they usually guess correctly at times) telling you that your credit card has been disabled due to incomplete BVN registration but they can help you rectify it by asking for your banking info or they will tell you that they discovered an attempt to change your internet banking password and they locked your account temporarily in order to confirm it was you who made the request (and of course you know the rest of the story undecided undecided)
3. You are either asked to call a number or directed to a fake website and prompted to enter private information.
4. Of recently, new phishing attack attempts to draw the attention of recipients with the following subject line ‘’Bleep BANK MONTHLY CUSTOMER DIGEST SUBSCRIPTION, ATM CARD DEACTIVATION DUE TO BVN, INTERNET BANKING ALERT’’ e..t.c

HOW TO STOP SCAM MESSAGES

1. Security is incomplete without you. Protect your account details like you would protect your life.
2. NEVER click on any link embedded in an email to unsubscribe/de-activate.
3. When in doubt delete the mail/SMS or call you bank's 24hours Contact center before taking any action.
4. Always ensure the sender of all emails from from your Bank is usually in this format "noreply@yourbank.com’’.
5. And when you get a call from anyone that claims he/she if from you banks, please do not tell him/her the name of your bank or your name or other info even though the person sounds real or is close in guessing your name or bank (this method as made some people unconsciously cough up their person banking info ).

Please don not fall victim of these guys, share with your loved ones.

Please feel free to add yours too.
Yours sincerely monkvirus
