It was a meeting between one of the Brightest Social media inventor ever and the Head of one of the largest religion in the world. What could they possibly have in common, one may ask.

It was an exciting one as Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg visited Pope Francis during his tour of Italy. The Facebook CEO not only paid a courtesy visit, he also gave the Pope a model drone.

Pope Francis as head of the Catholic church is used to accepting gifts from world figures. When President Obama met with Pope Francis last year, he too gave him a gift: a key to the house of the first American woman who was canonised as a saint. Also British Queen Elizabeth once gave His Holiness a basket full of food her royal estates, which also included a nice bottle of whiskey. So it was a surprise when Mark Zuckerberg presented a drone as a gift.

But whether it was a real drone or not, Mark certainly gave out something precious to him to the Pope perhaps to show his sincerity. But what was really the significance of the drone presented to Pope Francis. It is a model of the Aquila, Facebook’s massive drone designed to beam internet to people who might otherwise not have access.

According to Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook post . “We [Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan] also discussed the importance of connecting people, especially in parts of the world without internet access,” “It was a meeting we’ll never forget. You can feel his warmth and kindness, and how deeply he cares about helping people.”
