1. Coach Experience
Getting a coach with a strong track record of experience can make a world of difference in achieving your fitness goals. A personal trainer who is educated and has worked with a vast variety of people with needs are more likely to have honed their skills to help you achieve your goals.

2. Coach's reputation
Your chosen personal trainer should be able to provide legitimate credentials to backup their competence and professionalism, they should also have reliable references who can attest to their self acclaimed skills. Find a social proof.

3. Training Location
There are many different types of coaches that use different locations and configurations for instruction. You should try to choose someone who is willing to work with you in a place that makes you feel more comfortable and motivated. Also keep in mind how much you are willing to go(drive) to a coach, if you prefer someone around the corner or drive a longer distance.

4. Coach specialty
If you are aiming to achieve a specific goal e.g.distance running e.t.c. It is important to find a coach that's specialized in this area. This would ensure that they are passionate about the sport and have a better understanding of what it takes to achieve your goal.

5. Philosophy Career
Trainers can have radically different ideas regarding the philosophy of your workouts. Some think it's better to make use of stationary equipment(s) while others believe in using household items. Some feel a gym is the best place to train while others want to enjoy the outdoors. Make sure you find someone that suits your lifestyle.

6. How realistic are your expectations?
Make sure your goals are within reach and such goals should be shared/discussed with your coach, it shouldn't be limited to you alone. It is always good to have a self assessment of where you are and where you want to be. And be honest with yourself and your coach. There are ways to handle almost any goal if you leave adequate time and effort.

7. Your level of commitment
Signing a contract with a coach is a mutual agreement that the two will work together to meet the expectations in regards to your training session. Mutual trust and commitment is expected from both sides. The goal will only be reachable in the end if you are wholeheartedly committed in the process. Make sure you are ready to make the commitment and work on it.

8. Your Coachability
Physical preparation is not all hearts and flowers. It can be a difficult task. Sometimes it can feel difficult to be criticized on your methods and efforts. Coaches want to encourage you, but part of your job is to make sure that you do what it takes to achieve your goal. Make sure you are prepared to be open to constructive criticism.

It is important to consider these suggestions and keep them at the back of your mind. The only difference between reaching your fitness goals and giving up on the way solely depends on who you choose to work with. Find a fitness coach that'll have your best interest at heart & will help you achieve your goals in no time.
