Hair falls off naturally because it undergoes a cycle whereby each hair follicle passes through a growth stage that lasts between 2 to 8 years then followed by 2 month resting stage where no growth takes place. After the resting stage, the hair strands fall off and new one starts to grow in its place. Read up factors that cause hair fall off.


HOME REMEDIES FOR HAIR FALL

Coconut milk:

Requirement:
A cup of coconut milk



What to do:
1. Grind a grated coconut and squeeze out its milk
2. Use your dye brush and apply the coconut milk on your scalp
3. Cover your head with towel and leave it on for about 25 minutes
4. Remove your towel and rinse your hair with cold water
5. Wash with shampoo
6. Repeat it once in a week

Why it works
a) Coconut milk moisturizes your hair and keep it healthy because it is very rich in Vitamin E and fats
b) Coconut milk is good for hair growth because of its high potassium content(vital for hair growth)
c) Coconut milk reduces hair breakage because of its protein, fat and minerals content
d) Its antibacterial properties protect the hair from damage.
e) It strengthens the hair right from the root through the shaft to the tip.




.ALOE VERA:

Requirement:
Aloe vera plant (leaf or stalk)



What to do:
1. Wash your hair
2. Extract the pulp content from the aloe vera and rub it into your hair.
3. Massage the aloe vera pulp all over your scalp.
4. Rinse with cold water after 15 minutes.
5. Repeat it three times in a week, ideally in the morning or late in the evening.

Why it works:
a) Aloe vera promotes hair growth by its ability to penetrate deep into the hair and scalp.
b) Aloe vera balances the pH levels of the scalp and hair.

Caution:
For those who are latex-intolerant, the yellow-colored sap of the aloe vera can irritate the skin because of its toxin properties. You can convert the toxins into natural salicyclic acid (by boiling the plant before extracting the pulp) which is harmless to the skin..


BEETROOT:

Requirements:
· A tablespoon of henna
· A few beetroot leaves

What to do:
1. Boil the beetroot leaves in water till the water level drops down to half of its quantity
2. Grind the beetroot leaves and add henna to it
3. Make a paste with it and apply it on your scalp
4. Leave it for about 20 minutes and rinse with water
5. Repeat the process thrice a week.

Why it works:
It contains vitamin B, C, potassium, and protein which are all essential for healthy hair.


ONION JUICE:

Requirements:
1. A cotton ball
2. 1 onion

What to do:
1. Extract the onion juice after grinding it
2. With the cotton ball, dip it inside the juice and apply it directly to your scalp from the root of the hair strands to the tip.
3. Rinse with cold water after 30 minutes.
4. Wash with shampoo
5. You repeat this process once in a week

Why it works:
a) Onion improves blood circulation to the hair follicles and encourages growth due to its high sulfur content
b) Its antibacterial properties make it able to eliminate the bacteria that can cause scalp infections.

Caution:
Avoid the juice from getting in contact with your eyes. If the juice gets in contact with your eyes by mistake, wash thoroughly with cold water.

GREEN TEA:



Requirements:
· .2 or 3 cups of hot water
· 2 green tea bags.

What to do:
1. steep the 2 green tea bags in a hot water and wait till it changes the water color
2. wait until the water cools down
3. remove the tea bags from the water and then use the green tea solution to rinse your hair
4. Massage the solution over your scalp.
5. Repeat the process twice a week after shampooing your hair.

Why it works:
a) green tea increases metabolism, which increase the rate of hair growth
b) green tea stimulate hair follicles and boost hair production


POTATOES:



Requirements:
· 1 teaspoon water
· 1 potato
· 1 teaspoon honey

What to do:
1. peel the skin of the potato after washing it thoroughly
2. slice the potato into pieces and put them into the blender to obtain the puree
3. Get the potato juices by straining the puree into a bowl using a muslin cloth.
4. add a teaspoon of water and honey each to the juice and mix well
5. apply the mixture to the scalp and leave it for about 30 minutes
6. wash with a shampoo
7. You can repeat the process once in a week.

Why it works:
Potatoes contain iron, vitamin C, potassium which are very important in maintaining hair health, while deficiency of potassium could lead to hair loss


LEMON JUICE:

Requirements:
· A cup of warm water
· 2 or 3 lemons

What to do:
1. Prepare a lemon juice after cutting each of them
2. Mix the juice with warm water after straining it
3. Wash your hair in the bath, pour the mixture over your scalp and gently massage it at the same time
4. Allow it for about 5 minutes and then wash it off with cool water
5. Repeat it once or twice a week in the morning after taking your bath.


Why it works:
a) Lemons are rich in vitamin C, and other nutrients that helps maintain hair health
b) It eliminates dandruff
c) It contains alpha-hydroxy acids which helps to exfoliate dead cells
d) They tighten pores in the scalp thereby controlling hair fall
e) Lemons are also excellent astringent

Caution:
While pouring the mixture over your head, close your eyes because lemon contains acid. Do not use this remedy for long duration because it can dry out your hair.
