There isnt much to know about 09 Camry but I will give you few heads up. Their isn't much electronics(nothing complex), make sure you service it with factory recommended oils(engine and transmission) orelse you might pay a visit to ladipo where engine and gear is 300 n 250 respectively.
Also make sure the car has a 13pin gear and not 10 pin. Most dealers and owners do replace the 13pin gear with 10pin because of its cost.don't say its not possible......I fell for this scam
Don't ever remove the thermostat....if you do your camshaft go hear am and your engine will start a journey of no return

Check the catalyst to make sure it is intact...I failed to do so and I paid heavily...yes heavily

Above all car is rugged/strong Atleast I take mine to the farm with rough terrain and car has good fuel economy

Tanx boss for the tips but how do I know it's 13 or 19 pin gear? Unfortunately have not give me a comprehensive note on how to maintain the car for better handling and expecially the issue of the dashboard how do I manage that.

Both the i4 & v6 versions of this particular model of Camry are very reliable cars.Routine maintenance, use of OEM recommended parts and defensive driving will keep you away from the mechanics .

Why Sir?.My opinion about the 2GR engine used in the V6 Camry 09 is that it is an effective engine without too much wahala so far u carry out routine maintenance.Why do u prefer the Honda accord ?

i would say otherwise...

The only weak point i see in the 2GR was noted in the early models where a rubber oil return line was used, which could rupture with age and lead to immediate catastrophic engine damage. And i believe this was corrected with an updated part made of steel instead.

Honda 3.5l VCM engines on the other hand are prone to engine oil shortage due to the inherent design of the VCM (variable cylinder management) technology, and early models had situations where pistons rings were easily compromised, leading to recurrent engine misfires.

For me the VCM engine was just a lazy alternative for them to have used a six speed automatic transmission( i am talking of the camry and accord oh!), compared to the Toyota's 2GR, because both engines both had almost the same horsepower output and fuel efficiency (depending on the car it was used on.)

The fact that Honda 3.5 VCM engine still used timing belt give it the final nail to the coffin for me.

The 6sp auto was a night made even the 13pin 5sp auto was another transmission which is notorious.
The Honda v6 VCM had a better mileage, faster, more torque and power on demand, and the transmission was built well.

After I peaked the camry from port I noticed the check engine light flash and the next day it stay on,then the passenger airbag light did not on again pls what could be the cause of this
