The Federal Government in a bid to foster food production, diversify the economy and create jobs for the unemployed youth has come up with a scheme that is expected to employ over 100,000 graduates to work in farms that would spread across all 774 local government areas in Nigeria. The minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbe, made this disclosure shortly after he had inspected various Value Chain development Programme (VCDP), Improved Agronomics Practice foarms at Sumaka and Taraku in Guma and Gwer Local Government Areas of Benue state. Over 100,000 graduates would be employed by the Federal Government and drafted to farms in all 774 local government areas across the country. These graduates would function as extension workers to help government actualize its food production drive, diversify as well as boost the economy. Continue Reading |
