China had unveiled a prototype of a robotic crime fighter known as the AnBot at the Chongqing International Tech Fair this April. This was developed by the National Defense University to enhance the country’s anti-terrorism and anti-riot measures.
Finally, Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport in Guangdong, southern China, which is one of China’s busiest airport, has introduced AnBot to one of its terminals to help with security checks and provide flight information. The droid will patrol the departure hall of terminal three of the airport, reports the People’s Daily Online.
The idea of introducing the robot is to help relieve the pressure off airport police in their daily patrols and save human resources, said the official.
AnBot can work around-the-clock and deter suspects with sound and light, and react to emergencies with an electric riot fork.
The intelligent guard is 1.5 meters tall and weighs about 75 kg. It can move at a top speed of 11mph (18kph) and can even disarm people if they are deemed a threat.
The security robot is equipped with four high-definition digital cameras, which it can use to snap pictures of travellers’ faces, and then send them immediately to human co-workers for further analysis. It is capable of autonomous patrols, intelligent monitoring and auto recharging.
Xiao Xiangjiang of the National University of Defense Technology said: “It can patrol, avoid obstacles and then charge on its own.”
Robots have been increasingly used in the service sectors such as senior care and domestic cleaning in China.

The problem with Nigeria is not because we lack the potential for creativity but just that no body is really ready for invention. Nobody is ready to build a community that will harbor intellectual development and creative innovation. Nobody is ready to take the risk accompanied with been a genius or an inventor. Nobody!

Also with the look of things, it's like Nigerians cannot single-handedly go for invention. Though been a genius is a personal responsibility but going about invention in the twenty-first century solely depends on team work along with the development of team spirit.

The risk of failure will never make any Nigerian to go for invention. It is also observed that an average Nigerians are filled with the misconception that it only takes a brilliant mind to create a genius mind, not knowing that a brilliant mind may not necessarily be a genius mind while every genius mind is contained of a brilliant mind.

We just have to establish our dreams and takes up the responsibility of making it comes true with adequate curiosity, tenacity, aptitude and passion.

I have personally interrogated many Nigerians and many of them told me that they don't even know what to invent. The reason is because they find it difficult to evaluate world problem and also in the attempt of providing solutions to them in a scientific way.

To be a genius is a life time contract just like marriage. It is the greatest profession in history as genius earn the highest respect. To become one is very concise and explicit just that no Nigerian is ready to become one.

A genius mind is a mind that can think. Not just to think but to think ahead of centuries and artificially provide a means to validate the product of your thought in reality.

Nigeria will soon evolve from their primitiveness and start considering technology and invention as a serious business.
