If you are serious about your content or site then you also need to be serious about driving as much traffic to it as possible. One great way to do this is to share your content on social media to get referral traffic.

Referral traffic is great because it gets your content close to your new audience and creates new opportunities to engage your audience and conversions.

Below are some of the tips I personally use to promote my blog posts through Social Media.

1. Facebook
Facebook, as obvious holds the top in social sharing. It alone sends approximately 25% of all social referral traffic to sites. Most bloggers assume that sharing a blog post on Facebook just after publishing is enough, but here are certain strategies you can use to double the referral traffic from Facebook.

Facebook groups/Page
Create a separate blog group or page for your audience. Use this medium to interact with them. Whenever you share a post in this group you can actually see inflow of traffic to your blog.

2. Twitter
Twitter is a great source of referral traffic that can be used to promote your latest blog post. Here are some tips to make the most out of it.
-Set up twitter cards for more conversions.
-Use hash tags related to your niche
-Engage with influencers and your own followers.

3. Pinterest
Pinterest’s active community makes this a great place to build traffic. By posting relevant and attractive picture with a link to your post, your shareable image can help bring readers to you.

4. Instagram
Like Pinterest, Instagram is another visual sharing platform; use the same strategy you would use to get your content noticed on this site. Instagram has a strong reach into the teenage and young adult demographics, making it a very attractive content sharing option for brands.

5. LinkedIn
If you write amazing business articles and you need more people to read them; LinkedIn is the ideal place for you to connect with your niche and drive traffic back to your blog.

6. Google+ Communities
Google+ is another social networking tool that can be utilized to expand the reach of your blog. By posting into targeted Google+ communities, you will get your content pieces in front of interested readers in order to boost traffic.

But again, be careful of coming off as too self-promotional. Post unique content to Google+ and be sure that any shares you post offer authentic value to your followers.
