Mr Bovi Ugboma over-reaches himself to deliver rip-roaring laughter and entertainment in droves in It’s Her Day



A Film is like a building with the story being the foundation on which every other aspect of the filmic production is built. Get the story and its treatment right and you’re already halfway to getting a good Film.

We watched It’s her Day and the story simply blew us away. Technically, it is not high up there. No creative photography or editing. No cutting-edge directorial input that was meant to draw accolades. It was just all about the story, but what a story!

It is, quite enough, a simple story. A Groom, desirous of making a bold statement to his bride and her well-to-do family promises her a fairy tale wedding. Little did he know that he was marrying into a Family of high society Sharks!

The Bride’s family, knowing that all bills was on the Groom, go overboard in their spending with the Groom virtually drowning under a deluge of bills.

To add salt to injury, the Bride’s Family, never believing that the Groom and his family were good enough for them in the first place, adopt a snobbish attitude towards them, going to the extent of trying to dictate the particular type of Best Man they would desire and dress code for the Groom’s Family.

Things come to a head and the frustrated Groom eventually summons the courage to abandon the Bride at the Wedding Altar, of all places!

It was an unmitigated high society wedding disaster and even Linda Ikeji sef carry am.

The layers of comedic action are the ingredients that uplift this Film. A Film should be a reflection of a society. It’s Her Day not only reflects our society but also goes ahead to poke fun at it.
