I just have about 1year left complete my civil engineering study and I am currently learning highway design on Softdesk 8 with a firm's desktop. I want to buy a fairly used laptop for the purpose of civil engineering designs, but I need professional advice on the right specification I should look out for. I don't want to buy a laptop now and later in the future start wishing I had bought an higher one.

Thank you for the quick response. One of my relatives own an intel core i5 that he would love to sell to me but my spirit did not accept it. It has 2gb RAM(1.8usable), 1.8ghz, 32bits.

I would like to know what other specifications I should avoid as a versatile civil engineering project designer.

Thank you all for your comments. I found fairly used intel core i5 and core i7 at N65k and N85k respectively. I am praying for how I can afford to buy one of them. Smartly invested money makes more money, right?

i studied civil too, believe say all these windows laptop do fail and cannot withstand stronger softwares, forget all those so call specs quadcore or decacore....if only you could afford an apple laptop,

an apple laptop of core i3 will outrun even a core i7 or hp or whatever

apple are simply the best!!!
