Facebook Adds Three More Languages & Hits Milestone Of 100 Languages by kingsley939: 1:29am On Oct 02, 2016
The Facebook team has added three more languages to their website, making the media platform available in 100 languages. The three new languages added include: Fula, Maltese and Corsican. The Ceo and Founder of Facebook had this to say in a post he made on the website:

"Facebook is now available in more than 100 languages -- with more than one billion people using a language other than English! Today we added Fula, Maltese and Corsican.

Our community makes this possible. Over the last decade, hundreds of thousands of people around the world have worked together to find the right translations for words and phrases in the Facebook interface. Because the idea of a "Like" in English may mean something different in Arabic or Japanese.

This matters because for people to share what matters to them and see what matters to the people they care about, they need services available in a language they know. Some of the languages we’ve added don’t have meaningful presences on the internet. Others, like Corsican, are in danger of disappearing altogether, according to UNESCO.

So thanks to everyone in our community for helping us hit this milestone of 100 languages! We'll keep working to open up our community to everyone -- no matter where they live or what language they speak."

Fula (also known as fulani) is a non-tonal language spoken as various closely related dialects, in a continuum that stretches across some 20 countries of Western Africa and Central Africa including Nigeria.

We also have good reason to believe that the addition of the Fula language is as a result of the promise Mark made during his last visit to Nigeria. Most nigerian blogs and websites make mention of the addition of the Hausa language but this is false as Mark made no mention of this in his post.

Mark additionally added a video showcasing the 100 languages the media platform is available in. View Video on Facebook.
