Fg Selling It's Assests, Is This The Way Forward? by mohammad11: 7:29am On Oct 07, 2016
The news gaining momentum for the past few days is about the federal government of Nigeria selling off it's major assets for better economy and improved revenues to the government, some great business mogul have made such call earlier but Dangote's publicly declaring his interest and thereafter advising the government to privatised some of it's assets is the solution to the current economic recession Nigeria is undergoing. This has got many Nigerians home and abroad asking what the previous decision that got some of the countries finest assets privatised, asking what successes/developments has it yields? Will privatisation solve the problems? We'll focus this article on this and many more.
The Nigeria of mid and late 19s was booming a better economy and it's assets performing far better than private ones where government work is more preferred to others is now otherwise, a country always tagged as the economic hub(Giants of Africa) now saw itself behind South Africa, Ghana, and other African countries with well economic performance.
Looking at two earlier privatised assets such as NEPA (now PHCN) and Nigeria Sugar Companies are victims of such decision by the FG as there potentials is yet too be actualized, with such decision now on the table Nigerians wants to know the FG decision on such.
Some days back PUNCH News quoted the federal government saying "the proceeds from the sale of some of the countries assets would be used to fund the expenditure of government as contained in 2016 budget". Paying attention to this statement it's some how certain to some extent that the decision was already in process earlier on, but the question Nigerians should be asking is if assets are sold to fund FG expenditure, will the government have to sell another assets to fund it's subsequent budgets? What will become of Nigeria if it cannot manage it own assets?
Nigerians Side of the Matter

Nigerians attitudes towards managing/maintaining these assets plays a key role in ensuring it's productivity and success in the marketing environment, not until Nigerians change their "I don't care" attitude and "chop & clean mouth" behaviors towards government owned resources otherwise every administration will have to make such decisions every regime.

Question :
Who is to be blamed
the federal government to be blamed for selling of assets or Nigerians(I don't care and chop & clean mouth) attitudes?
