But I wouldn't even be surprised if someone is getting such speed on GLO since it's an uncommon band which also means few users

Went to Glo with my Alcatel Idol 4 (first phone on the list) and was told it was not compatible. Ditto my Madams Blackberry Priv. Was asked to send a text of "4G" to 400. The reply said I needed to change my phone AND sim. Confused.

Seems Glo 4G LTE is wide spread in Benin city, with very good reception at that.

That might also be the case...
Maybe Glo just didn't include it in their own list of compatible devices probably because the brand isn't that popular..... But since your phone is compatible, then there is a great chance it will work

4G LTE network is currently dominating the Nigeria telecom and while most network providers are transmitting with popular frequency band like band 3(1800MHz), 7(2600MHz) and 8(900), Glo on the other hand have decided to settle for frequency band 28(700) which is not supported by most affordable 4g smartphones in Nigeria. which means even if you own a 4g smartphone, there is still a great chance that it won't work with the Glo 4g network.

So if you happen to be a Glo user, one of those you will always have in mind when searching for a 4g smartphone is to look out for the one that will be compatible with the network band. if your smartphone doesn't support the band 28 but other bands, don't change your smartphone because of a hopeless network, rather port your number to a better network.

We ought to be grateful to GLO for adopting band 28 (700MHz) and pray that the other service providers all adopt this band in the near future. You see, MTN 4G LTE is deployed in most places using band 7 (2600MHz). Band 7 doesn't travel far and has low in-building penetration. MTN also uses band 20 (800MHz) but It's mostly in Lagos where Visaphone-MTN 4G LTE was tested. Band 20 travels far and penetrates walls better.

GLO FDD band 28 (700MHz) on the other hand travels even further and has way better in-building penetration. True, this band is uncommon in most LTE Devices but its coverage range is second to none so it should be well worth the investment.

Also, since few devices support it, there will be fewer data vampires clogging up the network. NGN2,500 for 10GB deployed on a band that has the widest coverage is the best offer at the moment. For once in my life I'm impressed with GLO!

I looked up the Infinix hot 4 pro X556 on the Infinix site. It seems only the Latin American version supports band 28-b. The South-East Asia/Africa/Middle East versions do not. Also, is band 28-b really the same as band 28?

I contacted GLO 4G Support (Customer Care) and they stated that the Hot 4 Pro does not support band 28. They sent me this list of phones that do:
