According to today's publication in Daily Trust, the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC) has expressed hope of mobilising all eligible graduates due for the 2016 Batch B orientation programme.

In a statement signed by the Director, Public Relations Department of the scheme, Mrs Abosede Aderigbibe, the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Suleman Kazaure, gave that indication during a meeting with the executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) when they visited him in Abuja.

It would be recall, NANS President Aruna Kadiri last week visited the National Directorate Hqtr. where he met with the Director General and other top officials of the scheme concerning an earlier released circular informing management of schools of slash in number of prospective corp members to be mobilize due to “tight budgetary allocation”.

The president who insisted on “Either All or None” demobilization, stated that “the implication therefore is that after graduation one might have to stay at home for at least five years considering the accumulated backlogs before been mobilized for NYSC.

“Furthermore, it will also result to a situation whereby participation will be as a result of WHO KNOW MAN and how highly placed your father is in the society.”

And also due to the increasing number of graduates every year both home and abroad, Comr. Kadiri said he will write to the National Assembly to increase the number of higher institution graduates for the scheme.

Kazaure during the visit urged the association to be calm and to cooperate with the scheme in its efforts to resolve all issues relating to the exercise. 

According to him, all corps producing institutions had been requested to upload full list of their Senate approved prospective corps members to the NYSC portal.
