iverpool’s new No.1 goalkeeper is in for a testing afternoon, one he has to come through should he remain as the first choice. Questions have been raised about the 23-year-old since he took over from Simon Mignolet with a few nervy moments and ill advised decisions already marked on his report card. Karius must convince Klopp and the supporters he is the man for the job and comes up against a difficult challenge in West Brom. The stopper is for an afternoon of high balls and physical battles against a route one side and has to stand firm and show his confidence. Any less and some tentative questions will graduate to serious doubts. Likely line-ups… Klopp has confirmed he has a fully fit squad to chose from which paves the way for Adam Lallana and Georginio Wijnaldum to return to the starting line-up. The two were sorely missed in the United draw, with Lallana’s eventual introduction really helping to lift the Reds. Emre Can and Daniel Sturridge will be the ones to drop out as a result, but as it has been from the start of the season, this Liverpool team picks itself. On West Brom’s end only Jonny Evans will be missing as he serves a one-game suspension for picking up five yellow cards this season. West Brom possible XI: Foster, Nyom, McAuley, Dawson, Olsson, Fletcher, Yacob, Phillips, McClean, Chadli, Rondon. If you memorise one stat, make it this… Tony Pulis is literally the bogey man for Liverpool with the former Stoke manager enjoying a wonderful record against the Reds in recent years. Liverpool wins: 66 Draws: 42 West Brom wins: 38 No defeats in his last six meetings with Liverpool, drawing five times and getting one victory, Pulis is certainly the hardest of nuts to crack in Merseyside. Last time they met… A 95th minute equaliser from Divock Origi sparked some crazy celebrations from Liverpool and even more odd full-time behaviour as West Brom were held to a 2-2 draw at Anfield. Their last meeting is a game that will be remember more for what happened after the full-time whistle rather than anything that occurred during the game. Jordan Henderson had put Liverpool in front before Craig Dawson got West Brom back in the game a few minutes later. Jonas Olsson completed the turn around for West Brom, but a deflected Origi strike ensured the Reds took a point from the encounter. Rival fans were left confused by the full-time whistle scenes as Klopp led his players around Anfield saluting the supporters that stayed to see out the game. From the archives… A 0-1 result at Anfield for West Brom in April 2012 in the Premier League was a massive result for the Baggies and an astounding outcome to an insane game. Peter Odemwingie’s goal gave West Brom their first win at Anfield since 1967 after Liverpool spent the entire game laying siege to the visitors’ goal. Liverpool had 28 shots on goal, 15 corners and 61% of the possession. It meant nothing, however, when Odemwingie coolly finished past Pepe Reina after Glen Johnson’s terrible mistake let the Baggies in. Metro.co.uk prediction… Just as West Brom frustrated Tottenham in their last league outing, we expect a similar story on Saturday for Liverpool. The Reds will be pumped for the match after a disappointing performance on Monday, but they come up against a side that will probably play almost the exact same style of play as United did. Liverpool struggled to break United down and we think they may repeat the labour against West Brom. However, should Klopp’s men come out more like the side that they were before the international break, it could be a very different story… West Brom will be a tough task and should come away with Anfield with something.
