Leah Foundation has been on sensitization campaign tour for female students and Kwaran women on early cancer detection.

The campaign train has visited schools across the three senatorial districts in the state. One of the places and local government visited was Shaare, Ifelodun Local Government of Kwara State.

At the event, it was noted that the month of October is tagged "Cancer Awareness Month" worldwide. It was an atmosphere filled with euphoria as Leah Foundation, a cancer treatment and charity outfit founded by Her Excellency, Deaconess Omolewa Ahmed, the wife of Kwara state Governor, took its cancer awareness programme to the door steps of the students at Shaare, the headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara state.

The programme which took place in the premises of Government Day Secondary School Shaare, is one of the many opportunities presented by the foundation for Kwarans to examine and screen them for breast cancer at no cost.

In her opening remark, the Principal of the school, on behalf of the members of staff and students, gladly received the management of the foundation and other guests and appreciated the monumental efforts of the founder over her consistent and timely medical awareness as well as supports for the downtrodden.

The awareness programme commenced with prescribed aerobic exercise against cancer. Thereafter, there was an educative and informative drama on Cancer by the students of the school.

During the programme, one of the physicians of Leah Foundation, Dr. Ayo, educated the students on how to identify cervical cancer and the advantages of its early detection.

The students were also given opportunity to ask questions which were all answered satisfactorily by the physician.

It is noteworthy that other health challenges were concurrently anchored and financial assistance given to the needy as parts of the preview of the foundation.

The Principal and a student representative on behalf of the school expressed their profound gratitude to Leah Foundation on the awareness campaign. The programme ended with a group photographs.



Also, Kwara female civil servants were converged by Leah Foundation at the Kwara State Banquet Hall, Opposite Government House, Ilorin, for a special cancer awareness programme.

During the programme, Health talk and aerobic exercise against cancer was anchored by Dr. Femi Olaleye of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, Lagos on how to detect cancer at early stage.

The organizer of the programme and founder of LEAH Foundation, Her Excellency, Deaconess Omolewa Ahmed,  disclosed that her interest in cancer care and philanthropic gestures for the downtrodden is borne out of her passion to always see every home healthy, because health they say is wealth.

Omolewa, who was represented by her Personal Assistant, Mr. Lanre Bello, further charged the good people of Kwara to make full use of the highly digitalized Cancer Diagnosis Centre located along AbdulKarim Adisa House, GRA Ilorin which offers cancer test and treatment at no cost.

Also, goodwill messages were delivered by the Kwara State Commissioner for Information, Mallam Mahmoud Ajeigbe and his Women Affairs counterpart, Hajia Ayinke Saka.

Specifically, Mr. Mahmoud Ajeigbe who made bare the full meaning of LEAH as "Life Empowered Anchors Hope" commended the several special cancer cases which have been successfully handled by the foundation.

At the end of the programme, questions were asked by the participants in attendance and apt answers and identified solutions for various cancer problems were given by the anchor.

However, civil servants who benefitted from the cancer concerned lectures showed appreciation for the timely of the programme capable of saving millions of lives against the pandemic disease.


The foundation campaign train still have couple of schools and towns to be visited as part of the activities lined up to mark the cancer awareness month.

Part of the places lined up to be visited this week are: Baptist Secondary School, Ijagbo, Federal Polythecnic Offa, and Ansarul Islam Secondary School, Ogidi Ilorin.
