Katrina Bookman thought she was the luckiest gamer ever, when her slot machine readings indicated she had won $42,949,672 at Resorts World Casino in ,Jamaica, Queens.
The excited winner even took a selfie with the slot machine which would have made her the largest winner in slot machine history.
"I can't even describe the feeling. It's like my whole body just got numb," Bookman said.
However, when she returned the next day to claim her earnings, her hopes were dashed on the rocks as an employee unceremoniously announced to her that her winnings were as a result of a machine malfunction.
According to the New York gaming commission however, she actually won a whooping $2.25.
Her claims have been looked into by the commission and verified to be as a result of a malfunction.
The casino however offered to pay her actual winnings of $2.25 as well as a complimentary steak dinner, but Ms Katrina has hired an attorney, suing the casino to pay out the maximum allowed by law, $6,500.
The erring machine has since been repaired and put back to use.
