Hard disk drive are very fast in actually reading/writing, but very slow when seeking to the right location, faster RPM is one way to cope with this problem. Higher RPM is most noticeable when launching new programs that force the computer to access the hard drive, or when writing transferring large amounts of data to or from the hard drive. A hard drive's RPM will have less impact on the speed of a computer in running a program after it is launched, since necessary data will be saved to the computer's RAM for faster access. In order to attain high RPM in hard drives, lots of power is needed to overcome increased wind and resistance. Hard drives with higher RPM consume more power. Average disk drives rotate at 5400.........
