20 Scenarios Existing In Lagos State!!! by JerryTob: 2:13am On Nov 08, 2016
New lagos city and Eko atlantic city with Lekki free trade zone may bring reprieve to the centre of Excellence and Africa's most busiest commercial hub.
Lagos state is the 3 fastetst growing Mega city in the world but some things have not yet being curbed and some are just being nipped in the bud!!
A close look at these 20 things would give you an insight into the hardship in lagos state which people do not notice exists!
1) Lack of affordable Accomodation:The increasing population has put pressure on indigenes as non citizens squat and live in ghettos and shanties!!
You may not notice but most street traders, hawkers, sellers and average earners sleep on the roads, road sides, in the bushes, and in uncompleted houses in rural areas under darkness!
They struggle to survive and in daytime they dress properely to an extent you won't notice they are actually "Homeless!
It is quite painful "to live or getan apartment for rent is becoming difficult nowadays!
Religious places of worship are heavily filled up on fridays and saturdays with homeless people most especially in all those ghetto and dark areas!!
I tell you if care is not taking! Demolition of illegal structures and shanties, hideouts of notorious people would unravel the truth about the majority working average populace who are homeless!!
2)Darkspots:Dark areas with no electricity are like a tourist centre for all sorts of criminal activities and social vices.
Unsociable activities take place under the cover of darkness!
Rape, ritual killings! Drug addiction and smoking of maurijuana and indian hemp happens in the dark spots in both rural and urban areas.
The Government is already taking control of this ibtolerable situation through neighbourhood watchers!!
It is good but we need more lighting up of Lagos state and more infrastructure security
3)Destruction of public assests and structures:
If it is for transportation or communication it would not last long as carelessness or vandalism by touts and end users always cause this scenario!
Lagosians and non indigenes must stop destroying public facilities which are useful to the populace!
Politicians have a role to play in putting an end to this menance because an enviroment suffers when two opposing parties incite their members to violence and they engage under such guise to carrying out looting, arson, wanton destruction of state properties!
4)Bad Maintenance culture: of some private or public assests has led to their degradation !
We just feel that if something is not in our own party or belongs to an opposition it must be destroyed!
Hence u see all these revenge happening, so we ought to have a government orientation on how to maintain publice
We must imbibe it in our children and illeterate adults so they can manage and maintain public resources at their disposal!!
5)Pollution:air , noise, land pollution all increases on daily basis because the state has not yet rigourously. Addressed the sources of this pollution
No heavy fine has been placed on enviromental violators who fault government enviromental directive so everyone risk obeying such directive
6)Increased indiscriminate dumping of refuse in non rural and rural designated area are a sign of wrecklessness !!
It must stop!!
7)Conversion of residential building into commercial buildings have created a huge vacum depriving citizens and non indigenes accomodation at affordable prices.
It becomes an eyesore that is not noticed and it must stop because. Hospitals! Schools and other operational facility arespringing up in wrong places due to infrastructural deficit!!
State government must deal with this syndrome
coolScattered topography and land master plan! You see houses living in areas not yet mapped out and the owners later abandon them!
U see it that it is so calamitious to an extent. Some people do not notice it !
A master plan must be spelt out to demolish illegal houses and pay existing dwellers on such compensation!
The problem of displacement would then be solved!!
9)Inaccesibility to usage of basic fundamental needs that rurban areas possess!!
10)High cost of learning!! For citizens and non indigenes and it makes u bewildered as to why the state is a center of excellence indeed!
11)Mass illeteracy ;thank God Gov ambode is addressing this phenomena in the state!
However more needs to be done to bring an end to thuggery, gangstarism!! Notorious living! And. Toutism!
You would notice that the highest number of illeterates are. School drop outs. Whose children become violent due to their improper upbringing and. in effficiency to communicate in the official language "English"
12) Low emergency response to accidents or natural disasters:I really thank God that no natural disaster has hit the state on a wwider scale!
The effect would have been catastrophic! However, the low response to emergency may also be due to many factors like inaccesibility of response and EMTs to scene of incidents!! There must be alternatives created to handle such situations!
13)Russian approach to New businesses without proper implementation ,licensing and regulation has brought an unsustained trend of turnouts as only associations can now contain the excesses of businessmen or women and this limits competition and Market growth which out not to be so as man must survive!!
In other words, Government must lay down rules to protect the business and economic enviroment
14)Onlooking: if an accident oCcurs! A crowd gathers sometimes taking pictures. Than calling an EMTs,
Too much social media awareness is creating a non sociable response to incidents. And disasters which need great care
15)Bad disposal of waste from any source has created a health risk and damage to healthcare!
Today, anywwhere bush is is seen as an area for disposal og waste!
Toxic waste, financial, material have created an eyesore
16)Flooding is as common as drinking Gasrri because it is not totally given a solution.
Lack of oreination needs to be addressed
17)Human rights abuse and violAtions occur daily from law enforcement officers who are meant to protect the citizens but instead prey on them . This needs to be addressed.
18)High wave of prostitution and divorce are alarming nowadays due to the influence of the media and other parental factors
19)Bad treatment of elderly people by the young population and government have sparked a kind of ill and many evils
20)Exploitation and extortion of citizens by government agencies in form of bribes to placate citizens offence must sieze.
All happens on a daily basis and it questions the capability of government to grant real dividends of Democracy to lagosians!!
These are the scenarios
