Less than a week after academic activities resumed across the various campuses of the Lagos State Polytechnic, LASPOTECH, it appears the disagreement between the management and the Non – teaching staff isn’t getting a solution anytime soon.
Events took another turn when the Non – teaching staff comprising members from the LASPOTECH chapter of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics, SSANIP, and Non – Academic Staff Union, NASU, stormed the Management Building and held the School management hostage for several hours on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.
InsideMainland gathered from a top management source who preferred anonymity that an argument ensued during a deliberation between the management and the Non – teaching staff. The development prompted the Non – teaching staff of the institution to position themselves at strategic points of the school. During the process, the officers insisted that academic activities would be on hold and no member of the management would be allowed to leave the school premises until their demands were met.
According to the source “the protest lasted few hours and no one was able to leave the school premises. The disagreement is due to the conclusion reached by the management and the Non – teaching staff but the management is yet to meet the terms.”
