Ever since smart watches came into existence, one of the biggest challenges users have faced is avoiding a dead battery.

Having this in mind, Matrix Industries devised a way to harness our body heat to power smart watches, This technology will be found on a watch they have called POWER WATCH. This tech isn't new , if you can remember SEIKO THERMIC and also BioLite's Campstove which can charge your phone while it burns sticks and twigs. But all the power watch needs is for you to put it on.

On Analog watches a reduced amount of energy is needed to move a second hand around, whereas much more is needed to run the processor in smart watches. The power watch will be the first wearable to be powered entirely by warmth, thanks to Matrix industries the power watch will posses the worlds lowest power consuming microprocessor, called the AMBI Q. Earlier processors were too power hungry to be effective, says Akram Boukai, founder of Matrix Industries. Without AMBI Q processor, the Power Watch would not have been possible, he says, even though thermal technology has been in existence for a long time.

In order for the thermo electric generator circuit to work, one side of the watch requires constant heat while the other side needs to be cool. The important factor is the temperature difference between both sides. That's the reason this tech works so well in a watch. As long as there is a temperature difference between both sides, the power watch is able to generate all the power it needs. When the watch is not being worn this watch automatically goes into low power sleep mode, which is powered by its internal battery. This way the clock is able to maintain correct time when not been worn. continue reading..
