Ekiti just like any other State has had its fair share of armed robberies. It's a menace we have been urging our leaders to get hands on about and motivating as well as equipping the police force should be of paramount importance
But,there is just this baffling trend in Ekiti State that I think someone needs to start challenging. When armed robbers visit any town, they often take their time to carry out operation and when done, they just basically stroll out without the police lifting a finger, and most often, the robbers will come back some 8 months later to Robb the same place repeatedly. They have visited the only bank in Ifaki three 3yrs in a roll, same thing in Oye.
I live in otun ekiti which happens to b one of the major towns that has never experienced armed robberies up until now. The town is flanked by a police station on one end and an army check point on the other. The recent robbery took place for more than 30mins and the police just refuse to come out of their station, saying they had to protect their station.
Which begs the question, why would they refuse to apprehend these guys during d robbery? Could it that they are short of man power? If that's the case, the next town [ayetoro] is just 5mins drive, the next one after dat [Ushi] is is 9mins away, after dat is Ido - ekiti which is 15mins away from otun. So we could have a combined force of Police from Otun,Ayetoro, Ushi and Ido in 15mins. But that didn't happen o
When the robbers finished, they left on foot through the bush and even then the police didn't even bother to trace them. Imagine about 20 robbers leaving on foot, that's how convenient it was for them.
My major concern now is that Ekiti robbers are fond of coming bak to rob the same location repeatedly in Ekiti State and judging by how easy this was for them,it might just be a possibility unless we start drilling and questioning the ones charged with protecting lives and property in the state
