George Weah was the first none European to be awarded.. it was in 1995 they stated giving none Europeans.
Ballon D'or was known as European footballer of the year, and was only given to Europeans, Mitchel Platini only scattered things in 2010.
Now, the question they can't clear is, who was the world player of the year in 1996? as they will think its Matthias Sammer.
The list is just for European players of the year, then it changed in 2010
